There are torque wrenches that can be set to a certain level of force that will stop applying force once that level is reached to help prevent over-tightening. With this type you don't have to focus as much on the gauge because it will stop tightening at the correct force. OURTORQUEWRENCH

Wherever you end up purchasing the digital torque wrench, make sure that you purchase one that is covered by a warranty. It is an electrical device and some have been known to break when they are being used improperly. TEKTON 24320 1/4

definitely not easily portable. For many of the bolts in that upper range, you would really have to be putting down a feat of strength to "overtorque" and damage it. I've never seen anyone use a torque wrench for pedals or cranks, very rarely on brake mounting bolts. YMMV of course. check it
